Who runs Wapato Coop preschool?
A: 保護者が幼稚園を運営しています。選挙によって選ばれた役員で委員会を構成し、月に一度行われる運営委員会会議にて、運営に関するあらゆる決定をしています。保護者が子どもの教育に直接携わる事が出来るのがコーププリスクールの大きな特徴です。
Parents do! We have a board of directors that gets together once a month to discuss school business and/or vote on important decisions. At a parent cooperative preschool, you the parents have the opportunity to be directly involved in your child’s’ education.
Q : コープの保護者はどのような事をするのでしょうか？
What is expected for parents?
A: 質の高いプリスクールを運営する為には保護者の協力なしには出来ません。保護者の方には以下の様な活動に参加して頂いています。
- オリエンテーションの参加（年度の最初に行われます）
- 月に２〜３回程のクラス内のお手伝い
- ペアレント・トレーニングや勉強会の参加
- 役員または係の受け持ち
- 年に２回の大掃除の手伝い（クラス内で行われます）
- ファンド・レージングは任意
To successfully operate our school, each family involved must make a commitment to participate in the school’s activities and operations. This commitment involves:
- Attending Orientation and Parent Training Session
- Classroom Participation two to three times a month
- Holding a Committee or Board Position
- Participating in Parent Education Activities
- Actively Supporting School Fundraisers is optional
- Participating at least two School Clean-up Sessions
Q : ドロップオフ制度とはなんですか？
What is drop-off system?
A: クラス内での当番と掃除当番が免除される制度です。仕事や様々な理由で当番に入る事が難しい方も入園が可能になります。詳細は幼稚園までお問い合わせ下さい。

Are their any benefits to helping the class?
What does registration as a Bates student mean?
A: 園児の保護者はベイツ大学に在籍しているとみなされる為、ベイツ大学費用を払うことでベイツ大学の単位の取得や、ベイツ大学にあるベイツ･リソース･センターの利用が可能となります。さらに、5単位分の幼児教育学入門コース（ECED &105）を無料で受講することも出来ます。
Parents/guardians are considered to be students at Bates Technical College. There are benefits to working in the classroom such as earning credits, access to Bates Resource Center at Bates Technical College, taking ECED &105 (5 credit) Introduction to Early Childhood Education course, at no additional cost.
Q : 園内は日本語のみ使用されていますか？
Only Japanese is used in class?
A: こぐま幼稚園は日本語による幼児教育を特色としています。園児に限られた時間内で出来るだけたくさんの日本語に触れてもらよう努めています。
Koguma Preschool is a unique school that holds classes in Japanese. We invite children to be exposed to the Japanese language within limited time, we kindly request avoiding using English as much as possible during class.
Q : 奨学金はありますか？
Is Scholarship available?
A: 限られた数ですが奨学金制度があります。申込書を受け取り後、委員長、会計係、ベイツ大学講師が申込書を審査し授与可能かを決定します。
Limited number of scholarships are offered. The President, Treasurer, and a Bates instructor will review the application. Scholarship recipients kept confidential.
Q : トイレトレーニングが出来ていないのですが？
Does my child have to be potty trained?
A: 園児がおむつを着用する場合は、教室に余分なおむつを持参してください。 もし園児がトイレトレーニング中であれば、着替えを持参してください。他に心配な事があれば、その都度相談に応じています。
Not all children are developmentally ready to be potty trained by age 2. If your child is not potty trained, we request that you send your child to school with extra changes. If you have additional concerns about this, please contact us for more information.
Q : こぐま幼稚園は教会内で行われますが、勧誘などありますか？
Classes are held at Lakewood Presbyterian Church, is there solicitation?
A: ありません。レイクウッド・プレスベテリアン教会内の教室を借りて行われます。当園は教会とは一切関係ありませんが、教室の他、教会の建物、駐車場、そして教会のスタッフを大事にしましょう。授業中に待合室をご利用頂けます。
Our classes are held at Lakewood Presbyterian Church in Lakewood. Although, Koguma Preschool is not affiliated with the church, please be respectful of the facility, parking area, and staff. Parents who are willing to wait for children are welcome to use waiting room. Please take trash with you.
